Money Matters
A 3-part HCET LearningLink On-line Training Module

  • Money Matters is designed to provide family planning professionals with information needed to understand the costs of providing services, develop appropriate fees for services, and be more effective in collecting fees.
The individual modules are:
Module I: How Much Does It Cost Us?
Module II: How Do We Charge Fairly?
Module III: How Do We Collect More?

  • AcknowledgementGeorge “Gerry” Christie
    These modules are based on the work of trained Sociologist, George “Gerry” Christie. Mr. Christie has spent his professional career in public health and as a university professor. Since 1975 he has been the Project Director of Family Planning Service of the Onondaga County Health Department, a Division of the Syracuse Model Neighborhood Facility, Inc. He is also a consultant specializing in cost analysis and fee scales, community diagnosis and needs assessment, program design, and program evaluation. In this capacity he has provided consultation and technical assistance to local and State Health Departments and to Health and Human Service agencies throughout the United States.

    Objectives
    After completion of all three modules of the Money Matters series, participants will be able to:

    1. Apply cost analysis principles to their program
    2. Establish fees based on cost analysis and reimbursement principles
    3. Establish fee scales and billing mechanisms that meet State and Federal requirements and maximize reimbursement

    Audience
    This information is appropriate for publicly funded family planning clinic administrators or nurse practitioners who serve an administrative role within their clinics.
